a sudden occurrence of something unwelcome, such as war or disease. number, no quantity or number; nought; the figure 0.
Her cheeks were flushed and her lips a little swollen as he pulled back from their kiss. A soft sound of disapproval left her, wanting him to come back to her lips. She offered the tour mainly as a way to offer them to move to her room. So the moment he said he'd love a full tour, she was almost pulling herself out of his grasp. About to take his hand and drag him towards it. But his next few sentences made her falter. Was he just being nice in his denial?Had she stepped over some line? Her anxiety was building but as his thumbs ran over her cheeks, she closed her eyes.
"I want you." It was a ghost of a whisper. And she pulled back enough to put a little distance between the two of them. "And if you are as serious as I am about a full tour, I suggest we get on that." Her voice growing a bit louder as she spoke the second time. She rested her hands on her thighs as she looked at him. If he wanted to slow down, then they'd stay right here. He was a grown man, he could tell her no. But she wanted to make it clear to him what she wanted. Even if nervousness was settling in. What if he rejected her? What if he didn't?
Jude felt a chill run over him as he caught those words, his hands falling from her face as she pulled back from him, her next words sending a shot of electricity through him. Reaching for her hands, he drew both of her arms up to his shoulders, a smile on his face. ”Yes, ma’am.” He told her, his tone teasing, as he then grabbed her thighs and leaned in, rising to his feet while holding her. She wasn’t at all hard to hold; the feel of her in his arms better than he could have thought.
He knew the layout of her apartment enough that he managed to not slam his shin into any pieces of furniture as he carried her towards the hall, his gaze locked on hers. His long legs made short work of the hallway, able to hold her to him with one hand so he could open her bedroom door, and then his hand was back to holding her, leaning in to press his lips to hers as he shut the door with his foot.
[FADE]
Afterwards, Jude had her gathered to his chest, arms wrapped around her, the blankets pulled up over them. His heart had been racing, as they laid there, it had slowly begun to even out. Running his fingertips along her shoulder, he tilted his head so that he could see her face. ”Are you alright?”
Kins was not sure what she was expecting from him in that moment. She was staring at him with this nervousness that was growing by the second. And when he took her hands into his, she had started to prepare herself for the rejection. For the kiss to her knuckles and the 'not yet', or something close to that. But instead, he was placing her arms around his neck and she was lifted up. Causing her to tighten around him as she stared at him for a moment. This was happening. She pulled his lips to hers as the door shut behind them.
She laid with her head on his chest, trying to calm her racing heart as he held her close. Listening to his own heartbeat trying to settle. She was still floating down from her trip to the heavens, her lips pressed to his skin a few times on his chest. A soft hum of approval leaving her when he asked if she was alright. "More than alright." She murmured softly, and then lifted her head to look down at him. "... are you alright?" She asked him. The two seemed to work wonderfully together, and he was so much better than anything she had thought of before when it came to that.
Jude felt an automatic smile lift his lips as he felt her soft kisses, the warmth of her body against him intoxicating. As she answered his question and lifted her head to look at him, his hand came up to gently brush through her hair, his thumb gracing her cheek. Was he alright? He gave a deep-chested chuckle in response, a soft nod dipping his chin. ”Fantastic.” Jude replied, absolutely basking in the afterglow.
”What do you say we spend the rest of the night in bed?” He asked, slowly, gaze locked on her face. ”I can bring the Halloween festivities in here. That is, if you’re okay with me staying the night?” He asked, raising a brow slightly as he looked at her. He wanted to sleep next to her, with her in his arms. But Jude wasn’t going to overstay his welcome. Just because they’d taken some sort of next step didn’t make him entitled to all of her time.
Kins leaned her head into his touch. Closing her eyes briefly as she soaked up the physical attention that he was giving her. Basking in this afterglow and glad that he seemed to be just as satisfied and happy as she was. A soft sigh left her lips as he chuckled, feeling the way it vibrated through his chest under her hands. She pressed a small kiss to his lips, a soft connection between them before she listened to his current idea for them.
She bit her lip to keep from grinning. "The whole night?" She asked, putting on a fake debating face, sucking air in between her teeth. It lasted all but five seconds before her hands took residency on either side of his face and she kissed with with a deep passion. And then pressed a few smaller, short kisses to his lips. "I think that is the best idea I've heard for any Halloween I've had." She told him, her smile bright as she moved just enough to allow him to get up and retrieve the candy and movies and what not. She would get up out of bed, nervous once more on her scarring but trusting what he had said to her.
She'd make sure to set up the TV that was in her room before crawling back under her covers, waiting for him to return so they could cuddle right back up.
Jude didn’t think he needed anything else in that moment than to hold her against him as he was, watching her face like he was watching a sunrise. Amazed. Jude hadn’t thought he’d ever feel this way again - happy, alive, warm. His lips returned the kiss without even thinking about it, happy to accept whatever affection she was willing to grace him with. He had a fleeting sense of nervousness as he subtly asked to stay the night, though as she made that clearly playful display of pretending to decide, a smile curled his lips.
He wasn’t quite expecting the passionate kiss, but even still his hand slid from her hair down the back of her head before glancing along her bare shoulder and back, squeezing softly as he pulled her closer to him still. He returned the kiss with equal amounts of tenderness and fire. He let her pull away from him, though every thought in his head told him to hold onto her, and then with a hefty amount of reluctance he extricated himself from the bed, not in the slightest embarrassed of his nudity as he made his way to the door, still stooping down to recover his boxers and tug them on. He caught sight of her also getting out of bed as he reached it, and did his best not to blatantly drool over her as he took in the image of her, burning it into his memory. To Jude, she was exactly how he’d imagined. Like living sunlight, warmth and fire and awe-inspiring. To Jude, she was gorgeous.
Going out to collect the items he’d brought, along with a couple drinks from the fridge, he snagged another movie without really looking and brought everything back. Unloading his haul on the bed, he shot her a broad smile, brandishing the DVD at her. ”Hocus Pocus.” He took only a minute to put in the movie before shutting the lights off and returning to the bed, sliding under the covers before reaching out to make space for her in the crook of his arm.
Kins glanced over her shoulder when she realized she didn't hear her door open right away. Catching his gaze for a moment, heat flaring in her cheeks as she did. Ever since she went through her treatments, she had been a 'lights off' kind of thing when she actually ventured into he realm of sleeping with someone. The scarring left behind from her treatments left scars across her hips, stomach, and chest. Where she had been plugged into machines and had surgeries. It left her less than ideal. And yet, Jude made it very clear, that he thought she was beautiful. She might not completely understand it, but he made her believe it.
She had gotten back into bed, watching him dump the load of candies and drinks onto the bed before he set up the movie. A chuckle leaving her as she sat up and pulled some of the items closer to them. As he settled into the bed, she didn't have to be given any motion for her to move into him. She was against him in seconds, pressing her hip and thigh against him as she got close, tossing a couple pieces of candy into his lap. "Fuel up buttercup." She winked at him before she leaned back and pulled the covers up over the two of them, up to her chest. "Favorite halloween movie?" She asked him, looking up over her shoulder.
He wasn’t cured. Jude knew that. He understood that this was the afterglow, that warm fuzzy feeling after forming an intimate connection. But he never thought he’d feel this feeling again. Had you told him he’d be holding a woman like Kins and laughing and flirting just a month earlier, he’d have laughed you out of the room. Jude was absolutely mystified by the woman in his arms, and as she dumped some candy in his lap and gave him that little wink, he felt some big, untitled feeling swelling up inside of him. It wasn’t any one emotion, but more like the overwhelming pressure of everything he was feeling. And for once, there wasn’t any guilt over feeling happy. As he looked down at her, he had the incredible urge to bury his face in her hair and pull her into him, to hug her close and breathe in her smell. He hadn’t felt the urge to get close to anyone in too long. It was almost like being exposed to something his body had been yearning for for quite a long time. A low chuckle escaped him as he took a piece of candy in one hand, using his teeth to slide it from the plastic encasing it. Some hard fruit candy, he didn’t bother looking at the packaging.
And then she was asking him a question, looking up at him from her spot against his side, right where he wanted her to be. ”Hmm.” Jude considered her question, the candy clicking against his teeth as he moved it around his mouth. ”Jeepers Creepers.” He replied, shrugging a shoulder lightly. ”What’s yours?”
The way he looked at her after she slid back into the bed almost had her tilting her head at him in question. The candy spread on the blanket in his lap and she took a small piece of chocolate and carefully pealed the wrapper off. She still couldn’t get over how sweet this whole thing was. How he thought of her on this night and instead of doing whatever healthy people were doing, he chose to be with her. He got candy and movies and drinks and made her heart flutter at the sight of him. She didn’t deserve this. And yet she was too selfish to tell him that he deserved someone who could give him so much more.
The blanket pooled around her waist, and she looked up at him as his breath tickled her cheeks. The sweetness of his candy was making her want to kiss him against just to taste it for herself. But she had a feeling if she went for him now, she wasn’t going to know where to stop until they were back into the afterglow of everything once more. So instead, she placed a kiss to his shoulder after he shrugged and she pondered for a moment. “I really loved the Nightmare Before Christmas as a kid. I can sing almost every song to you if you’d like.” She laughed. It was true. She knew them all well.
As the movie started back up, she leaned back a little in her bed. Basking lightly in the dim light in her room. She had the urge to pull the blanket up to her chin. It was a natural feeling for her, even though she knew that he didn’t see her scarring as terrifying or ugly. “I get cold toes at night, so I apologize now if you find cold toes shoved under your legs in the middle of the night.”
Jude felt like a sap as he melted when her lips met the skin of his shoulder, and he looked down at her with a slow-growing smile. He tilted his head, raising a brow at her. ”Don’t tempt me. I bet I could actually sit and listen to you sing all the songs.” He flirted, unashamed. He wasn’t the biggest fan of animated films, but only because they reminded him of a different life. One where all he seemed to ever do was watch animated films. Before then, he’d been quite big on them.
As she mentioned cold toes, he sucked in his breath as if that were a deal breaker, giving her a playful look. ”Cold toes, huh? I dunno….” Clicking his tongue, he couldn’t help but smile broadly at her. ”That’s fine. I snore like a chainsaw.” He told her casually, laughter in his expression.
