Laidback, easy to hang out with, patient, enthusiastic, charming, open, extroverted, optimistic - those are the main personality traits Mick possesses. Mick had always had a good level of patient and never lost his nerves even if someone was downright impolite and mean to him. As a long-time paramedic, he experienced a lot and patience is something you just need when dealing with a lot of idiots. He doesn't even care. It just slides past him.
There were a lot of times when others got annoyed by his laid-back attitude but as mentioned before he doesn't care. It's hard for him to take things seriously that's why he tends to laugh at most serious matters. He can be a bit chaotic especially when it comes to organizing things. Papers would be scrambled around everywhere and there's no order in his apartment. He's prone to lose things like keys, wallets, glasses... just about anything small.
Mick was born and raised in New York City. His dad was working for the fire department as a firefighter and his mom was working for a management company. His childhood and upbringing were mostly unspectacular and ordinary until he was a senior in high school.
During a seemingly normal rescue, his dad and his team were sent to a burning building which they entered as they were told someone was still stuck inside. Little did they know it was a trap. The moment all of them went inside someone closed the door behind them and blocked it with a car. There was no other exit and the staircase was broken apart already. Stuck inside the smoke and the flames it didn't take long until the building started collapsing. They tried to make their way out somehow and managed to break the wall which led into the building next door but being the team captain his dad forced the others to leave first. Before he was able to climb out the upper floor collapsed as well, burying him in a pile of debris and stone. Only his lifeless body was recovered from the scene.
After an investigation, Mick and his mother were told that the building was set on fire on purpose by a small gang. Most of them were caught by the police via CCTV recordings and black boxes inside cars. His mother already being devastated by the death of her husband couldn't bear it anymore and left her son claiming that looking at his face and seeing her husband made it impossible for her to continue living a somewhat normal life. After she abandoned her son in his last year of high school he spent the last months at his uncle's house in Virginia.
Once he was done with high school he moved to Lethford City all by himself where he attended a paramedic school. After he completed the required training, passing the exam, and attending additional training classes he was transferred to the firehouse 38 where he first didn't feel really comfortable as he had to think of his dad every time he went to work. After some time he got used to it, he had fun with the choices he made until the virus started spreading. They were already busy on a daily basis but as more and more people got infected the workload just shit up through the sky. However, as much as he hates having so much work and losing his teammates one by one to either the virus or the rebel attacks he still doesn't regret anything.
