OUTBREAK: ZERO is a semi post-apocalyptic pandemic roleplay set in the fictional city of Lethford, USA. Current season: Winter, 20/21.
March 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousands, and the death toll is at an estimated 250,000, with about seventy percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.
The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.
In an attempt to provide a semblance of safety and control, military personnel patrol the streets, even here in Lethford City, and the police force is trying to keep up with the rising street violence, assault, and theft.
Welcome to OUTBREAK: zero. Will you survive?

outbreak
/ˈaʊtbreɪk/ zero /ˈzɪərəʊ/
a sudden occurrence of something unwelcome, such as war or disease. number, no quantity or number; nought; the figure 0.
friends. Despite his occasionally blasé attitude Jack is actually a relatively friendly guy. Growing up in New York he built up a reputation as an airheaded party boy, forever out with another statuesque blonde on his arm, hobnobbing with the rich and famous. The Jack beneath that thick skinned facade is very different and few get to see that deep. Over the last six months he likes to think he's become relatively friendly with his 'team', what remains of it at least, but as he imagines many others are, he's merely ducking and hiding, doing his best to hang on by his fingertips. Having his ex-wife still in the same department certainly hasn't made things any easier.
enemies. On the surface it would appear that Jack might have few. Those he's put behind bars perhaps, or those from under whose noses he's stolen women in the past but thanks to Jack's secret life there are more here than would appear at first sight. The better part of a decade spent returning stolen art to those from who it was originally snatched has meant him rubbing up against those of little morals and even less qualms about doing someone harm.
family. Thanks to his father Jack's gone through his own, now entirely absent, mother and at least half a dozen others who expected to be called stepmom (plus plenty who balked at the idea). Jack is as estranged from his father as he can possibly arrange at the moment, gladly leaving him behind in New York. If Dalton can't be bothered to attempt to reach out a time like this Jack certainly isn't going to bother either.
lovers. Zoe, dear Zoe. She'll always be the one that got away with Jack. She was his first serious relationship after dozens of one night stands. Since his marriage broke down and he went through the nightmare of a divorce Jack had appeared to go back to his philandering ways. The emergence of the virus soon put a damper on that, even if he had the inclination to truly move on from the wife he still loves, there's no opportunity now, not unless he wants to be dosed with something deadly too.
Arlo works in dispatch (and is damn good at it), so she probably has conversed with him a few times over the walkie at some point. She had made a habit to not go over into the station and introduce herself to anyone, but she has been slowly working on it. Figured they might have a bit of fun banter over the walkie?
Tyler here works for the government as a translator. She's spoiled, and comes from a rich family. But sometimes she gets pulled to help out on cases so that way she can translate.
So Jasper here is a mechanic, but also a rebel. He normally hides other rebels away from authority until the coast is clear. Maybe Jack and Jasper have an awkward/tension filled interaction because Jack gets a feeling Jasper might be in on it?
Anyway! These are just some of my ideas lol feel free to add/toss out other ideas!
Jack is certainly all for the fun banter! Could always have had Jack ask her to bring something to him? A recording of a dispatch call or something. He'd likely make it a 'you come to me or I'm absolutely coming to you' situation. Jack has a reputation for being a little spoilt, the typical rich guy who's only in a job like this because his father paved his way up the ladder in New York for him. Couldn't be further from the truth but Jack will occasionally exploit that sort of thing to get his own way.
Ooh, a translator, helpful. Jack's always on the look out for those with skills that he can monopolise for his little sideline. As a fellow wealthy brat (the bratness is definitely only skin deep!), Jack would probably see her as a bit of a kindred spirit. How would Tyler be with translating a few documents for Jack?
Ooh, me likey! Jack's like a dog with a bone if he thinks he knows something. He'd likely drive Jasper insane! With the curfews and everything, Jack would probably try and keep a low profile if he is out doing something he shouldn't be. If he and Jasper were to cross paths then he'd try and keep his mouth shut but I doubt Jack ever will be able to for long.
