OUTBREAK: ZERO is a semi post-apocalyptic pandemic roleplay set in the fictional city of Lethford, USA. Current season: Winter, 20/21.
March 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousands, and the death toll is at an estimated 250,000, with about seventy percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.
The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.
In an attempt to provide a semblance of safety and control, military personnel patrol the streets, even here in Lethford City, and the police force is trying to keep up with the rising street violence, assault, and theft.
Welcome to OUTBREAK: zero. Will you survive?

outbreak
/ˈaʊtbreɪk/ zero /ˈzɪərəʊ/
a sudden occurrence of something unwelcome, such as war or disease. number, no quantity or number; nought; the figure 0.
Heels clicked against the ground, white lab coat swaying as she moved. Delicate fingers raised to brush blonde hair behind her ear, a few strands having fallen freely from her bun. Her eyes took in each person as she passed, her demeanor holding an air of importance. She held a clipboard to her chest as she made her way through the halls to the lab that she worked in.
Since this virus started, Ophelia had found herself extremely busy. She practically lived at the lab, not that she minded after all. She enjoyed her work, and she enjoyed the smell of cleaning supplies. If she hadn't fallen into this job, she would have enjoyed working in a hospital. She held her head high, at least, until she got to the lab doors and found it blocked by two employees. She smiled sweetly at them, "Excuse me," she said, her accent visible. They didn't budge, one of them even looked at her, and she nodded her head towards the door. They were sheepish after that, scurrying off to god knows where.
She entered the lab with a nose in the back of her throat, the smell of chemicals filling her nose. She wasn't the only one inside, though; another was inside working away. She made her way over to one of the tables and placed down the clipboard.
allie had already been at work in the lab for about three hours, mostly by herself - sometimes a random scientist would pop in, or another intern or maybe even a janitor - but for the most part she worked in solitude. She'd gone to take a break, standing outside in the fresh air and drink some water before heading back to the lab. As she walked down the hall, she passed two coworkers who looked like they'd just been told off by their mother. She caught the name 'Hart' as she passed by, and she hurried her steps to the lab, entering to find Dr. Hart and another scientist in the lab.
The other scientist looked up when she entered, carrying a tray of samples past her and out the door, leaving the two women alone together. "Dr. Hart, good morning." Callie greeted, trying to sound chipper. Her gaze quickly flashed to her workspace, a small desk that was cluttered with papers and pencils. Scientific books, research documents. Luckily, no food wrappers or anything like that. "Any further progress with the tests?" Callie found herself asking as she moved over to where her superior was standing.
Callie was definitely interested in whatever Dr. Hart had on the clipboard, but she knew better than to get nosey. She'd learned her lesson early on that most dignified scientists didn't appreciate people looking over their shoulders, and Callie knew if it was something she needed to know about, then she'd know. But she couldn't stop a curious glance towards the clipboard - before trying to focus on the doctor herself, refusing to let her gaze drop to the clipboard again. "Is there anything I can help you with?" She asked, her tone open and generous.
