[attr="class","CONTENT"] Cameron needed a break from life, from work, from the chaos around him. He was more than just stressed and the opportunity to party was just perfect. He felt a little guilty as he sneaked out of the apartment with Malcolm seemingly napping on the couch. He tiptoed out of the door, closing it as softly as he could without waking him up. As he stood in the elevator he looked at his reflection. Cameron didn't really have anything for a costume at home but he found an old brown, grey-ish plaid shirt he threw on over a simple white tee and bought some cheap face paint at the store.
Once he arrived his first mission was to ask some girls to do his makeup for him, he gave them the face paint and let them draw wolf features on his face just like in the image he showed them. It looked quite nice. His blonde hair was ruffled through to make it a bit messy and tadaa! The big bad wolf had arrived.
Of course, Cam being Cam he didn't walk through the haunted house quickly. Instead, he remained hidden somewhere in the middle and made it his mission to jump out and scare at least one person. As soon as he spotted a target a wide grin appeared on his face and he jumped out, holding his hands out like claws. "RAWR!"
Darcy didn’t know why she was here, but she was. She was officially putting one foot in front of the other and making an effort to connect. To socialize. Even if that also meant she was totally breaking the law. She was dressed up as Red Riding Hood, which just meant she was wearing a red cloak over a loose blouse and a skirt. She had stockings on, and a pair of cute slip ons. She arrived with the hood up, but as she entered the haunted house she laid it back.
It wasn’t all that scary, to be honest. More so startling - with loud sounds, bright flashing lights, and people popping out of the woodwork. She’d been nearly done, she was hoping, when she rounded a corner and a figure leapt out of the shadows. Darcy let out a loud, startled scream, jumping back in her shock. Slapping a hand to her chest, she leaned over, trying to find her ability to breathe again. ”Oh my god.” She wheezed, looking back up at the person who had jumped out at her.
Wait. She recognized the face under all that makeup. ”Cameron? Jesus! Are you working for whoever set this up? I thought you were a firefighter?” She was both confused and also felt a little bit like reaching out and slapping him - mostly in a playful way.
[attr="class","CONTENT"] Cameron let out a loud and satisfying cackle before he dropped his arms back to his sides and stepped back to give his poor victim some space. He tucked his hands into the pockets of his jeans, and just shrugged softly at Darcy pointing out being a firefighter. “I am. But more importantly, I‘m just a human. I mean not today… today I‘m the big bad wolf. And the big bad wolf doesn‘t care about rules and regulations.“ he replied with yet another shrug and an innocent smile, arms moving behind his back as he slowly swayed back and forth.
He then looked over her shoulder, tilting his body slightly to the left, before his gaze fell on her and her costume. “Red Riding Hood? Looks like we are partners now. Unless of course, you’re meeting someone. But if that’s not the case-” he said, offering her one claw-free hand and a dark grin. He leaned forward in her direction, still making sure not to get too close to her face because the virus was still a thing, even if everyone seemed to have forgotten about it for the night. “You know, my dear, it isn't safe for a little girl to walk through this haunted house alone.” Cameron quoted from the fairytale, releasing a low grow from his throat.
His other hand reached up to his face, index finger hovering in front of his lips. "Don't tell anyone I'm here or else I'll have to eat you." he added, shooting a playful wink into her direction before starting to make their way down the corridor.
Darcy thought that maybe his words explained why she was here, too. She wasn’t the most sociable person in the world, but she was still a human being. And it wasn’t like everyone didn’t need a good break from all of the recent events. But the scientist in her was in horror at the party, the close contact going on. And still...it was all a little bit exciting, wasn’t it? She gave a little shrug. ”Alright, fine. But you still almost gave me a heart attack.” Darcy replied, giving him a pointed look, like she was still trying to be mad about it.
“Red Riding Hood? Looks like we are partners now. Unless of course, you’re meeting someone. But if that’s not the case-”
The redhead looked down at his offered hand and then back up at him, her expression still a little hesitant. Darcy let herself have a split second to try and convince herself to turn around and leave, and then she offered him a small smile, taking the offered hand. ”I’m not meeting anyone.” She confirmed. His next words, coupled with the growl that followed, sent a little chill down her spine. Staring at him, a little voice - an older-than-technology instinct - whispered danger. The thrill that ran through her at the feeling made it confusing. How she was excited by the danger was an odd sensation.
She couldn’t help the little laugh at his warning, but gave a quick nod of her head. ”My lips are sealed.” Her tone light. ”I’m just hoping you’re the scariest thing in here.” She added, raising her brows as she took a moment to glance behind her. Would they bother sneaking up behind them?
[attr="class","CONTENT"] "Good. I would hate to have to eat someone as cute as you." the blonde replied when she accepted his hand. He rose to his full height, standing in front of her before taking a step to the side so he would be standing next to her and slightly behind her as they started moving deeper inside the haunted house. "I’m sure I won’t be the scariest thing here. But don’t worry, this big bad wolf will protect you." he told her, glancing down once more and giving her a small wink.
As they walked through the dark corridor he glanced down at her briefly before letting his gaze wander around the corridor, looking out for the jump scares. "I’m sorry about the almost heart attack. But you know… it’s my job to save lives so I could have easily saved you too. Nothing better than a little mouth to mouth to get closer right?" Cameron teased, a lighthearted laugh escaping his lips.
As a firefighter, Cameron was used to being in the dark and not being able to see anything. He had developed other senses which helped him a little better navigating - not that he was some sort of supernatural being - but his skills from work came in handy from time to time. For instance when he spotted a figure looming in the dark on their left side. Without hesitation he grabbed her hand more firmly, pulling her slightly into his direction before the figure was able to jump on her.
Darcy once again sent thanks up for the lighting of the haunted house, because she could feel blazing heat in her face as the word ’cute’ escaped his lips. No one had ever really paid her any physical compliments - it wasn’t like she’d really put herself out there in the past in order to be in a situation that would warrant it. As such, she was still formulating a response when he mentioned protecting her from the scarier things in the maze. She raised her brows at him, smiling. ”How heroic of the so-called big bad wolf.” Darcy replied.
”Nothing better than a little mouth to mouth to get closer right?"
Up until those words escaped him, she’d been walking alongside him, comfortable and relaxed by his outgoing nature. However, as those words broke the spell, Darcy felt her heart leap up into her throat as her lips parted to respond, but no words coming to her aid. For her first genuinely flirtatious encounter with a man, she was suddenly treading uncharted waters. Mentally, she tried to snap herself out of her constant cycle of overthinking things. She let out a laugh, ”I don’t think you’re supposed to create the emergencies you’re working, though.” She shot back, choosing to not directly respond to the mouth-to-mouth comment. She’d only end up embarrassing herself.
And then he was suddenly tugging her closer, and Darcy was pretty sure she swallowed her tongue and made an absolutely shameful squeaking noise, only just then noticing the figure he’d pulled her away from. Flashing him a broad smile, she laughed. ”I’ve got to admit you’re doing a great job at the protecting thing so far, though.”
