March 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousands, and the death toll is at an estimated 250,000, with about seventy percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.
The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.

[attr="class","CONTENT"] Christian was sitting on the passenger side as usual. He looked over at Samara who had been assigned driving duty ever since the two of them were paired up. He had been more than glad since receiving a new partner, his old and useless one gone - poof - vanishing into thin air. The two were still in the process of warming up to each other but Christian couldn’t complain so far. She was definitely much better than this idiot of an old partner.
A small, black box was sitting on his lap. The officer opened it, revealing a set of earpieces given to all patrols involved in this raid. The usual communication via radio wasn’t as handy as earpieces. His hand reached up to his ear, popping in the earpiece they were given for communication with the other units while he passed the other one to Samara, holding it out to her.
"If you’re nervous I suggest emptying your bladder before it starts. It can get wild and very chaotic." he asked, pushing the button on his to turn it on before closing the box and placing it on the dashboard. The patrol unit was always requested for support even though most of the time the specialized units or the SWAT team was handling pretty much everything. "I hope you aren't. You know... nervous." he told her, offering a small smile for support.
Somehow she’d managed to join up with the police force just before a raid, and Sam felt the nervousness eating away at her gut. She didn’t want to make any mistakes, had almost considered requesting to sit this one out. Maybe just observe. But no - they were all short handed, and she couldn’t afford the luxury of a smooth initiation. It was time to pull her big girl pants on and suck it up.
Still, as Christian mentioned her potentially having a nervous bladder, her nerves eased just enough to wonder what in the world his past partner could have done to make him have this vendetta against the need to urinate. Had he been stopping every five minutes to use the bathroom? Sam smiled lightly, laughter in her gaze as her brows drew down into a questioning look. ”I feel I need some sort of backstory on your old partner. I can’t tell if you’re overly concerned with bladder health, or if he was just that bad.” She teased, trying to use the joking mood to brush away her anxiety. She quickly placed the earbuds he’d handed her into her ears, glancing over at him as she secured the second one.
She was happy to catch that little smile. He’d seemed extremely cold when they first met, or maybe just a bit antisocial, but she’d noticed him slowly warming to her. Probably because she hadn’t once asked for a potty break since they started working together. That first encounter had made her swear off of it immediately. ”Only a little. But I probably shouldn’t be admitting that, huh?” She tacked on, realizing being nervous as a police officer probably wasn’t a good thing. She gave him a firm glance. ”Either way, I’ll have your back in there.”

[attr="class","CONTENT"] ‘I feel I need some sort of backstory on your old partner.’
The brunette frowned at her before his face expression changed into something more of disgust. "I’ll spare you that information. Really, there’s no need to know anything about that guy. Just know he wasn’t a good officer and I hope you are better than him. I don’t want to go through the hassle of requesting another partner." he said in a serious tone because he meant it. He waved at the air, dismissing this depressing topic about his former partner. Christian didn’t feel like talking about it right now… or ever. "Just… don’t try too hard or use the restroom every ten minutes." he added, chuckling softly before he was interrupted by the voice coming from the earpiece.
‘All units on standby.’
Christian opened the car door, slipping out of his seat. He was a little nervous too. Everyone probably was. There was this small feeling of discomfort in the back of his mind, nagging at him. They were mostly going in blind, not exactly knowing how the premise looked like, how many people were inside, how many of those could be armed, and how they would react. There were most likely civilians inside as well aside from the criminals who came up with the idea of hosting the party. Chances to hurt innocent people - perhaps not that innocent since they attended the rave - were high. "I guess it’s about to go down. Check your gear. Make sure your gun is loaded."
Samara’s brows raised slightly as he spoke about his partner, without really telling her anything about him. It was a little surprising he wasn’t going to jump at the chance to bitch about someone he clearly loathed with every fiber of his being, but it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. She gave him a slow nod, brows pulling down and together as she half-smiled. ”Don’t pee and don’t try too hard.” As she started speaking, she pretended to pull a little notepad out of her breast pocket and flattened her palm, using her other hand as if she were taking notes. Glancing over at him, she tried to keep that half smile under control. ”Got it.”
The call cut short any sort of amusement, her heart hammering in her chest as she got out of the car and come around to stand beside Christian. As he spoke, she nodded, feeling a tremor in her hands that she put a stop to immediately. She couldn’t be quaking in fear or nervousness. Not on their first big job together. As he’d instructed, she checked through the gear on her body and then double checked that her weapon was loaded. Safety still on. Were they really going to be shooting people for going to a party? The civilian side of her mind told her that this felt a little extreme. The law enforcement side said that what they were doing put everyone else at risk too. ”I’m good.” She told him, her voice a little tight but the tremors having thankfully stopped. She was going to be solid throughout this entire thing, because she was determined to be so.
