OUTBREAK: ZERO is a semi post-apocalyptic pandemic roleplay set in the fictional city of Lethford, USA. Current season: Winter, 20/21.
March 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousands, and the death toll is at an estimated 250,000, with about seventy percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.
The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.
In an attempt to provide a semblance of safety and control, military personnel patrol the streets, even here in Lethford City, and the police force is trying to keep up with the rising street violence, assault, and theft.
Welcome to OUTBREAK: zero. Will you survive?

[attr="class","CONTENT"] Artemis rested her head on the palm of her hand, arm leaning against the window while tapping the white plastic lid of the coffee cup she was holding with her other hand to some random rhythm. She stifled a yawn, wishing for her bed or even just the bunk at the station to take a nap. Cas and her had been waiting for a while now, parked just behind the army of policemen and military personnel. The whole scene looked strange, out of place even. While raids weren’t that uncommon… raiding parties on Halloween definitely was.
The brunette took a sip of her already cold coffee. They just bought it on their way to the location but the drop in temperature made it cool down faster, despite the heater inside the ambulance. Art didn’t make a face at the stronger bitterness and aftertaste cold coffee left ever so often. There was a difference in taste between coffee that cooled down and coffee that was supposed to be cold. "Should we bet?" she wondered, turning her head towards Cass who was sitting beside her. "Loser pays for dinner? I raise you four cheap vampires and at least six sexy nurses."
She looked him up and down for a moment, pursing her lips slightly outward and narrowing her eyes at him in a non-serious manner, tapping her finger against the coffee lid once again but slower as if she were thinking hard. "So... what was your last Halloween costume?" she asked him to pass time because all they could do right now was wait.
Cas was of mixed emotions when it came to this raid. While the paramedic in him told him that everyone in the warehouse was putting themselves at risk for a party, there was a part of him that understood why they were doing it. Like taking control of your own demise; as a soldier, he could understand. But this wasn’t the way to go about it. But did he like the idea of the police busting in and taking everyone to jail? No, not really. Staring out the windshield of the ambulance, his brows were drawn down in an uncharacteristically serious expression, his gaze flicking from police to military to guns. How easily this situation could turn into a firefight, especially if the people inside happened to have some rebels among them. He was happy he was the medical backup, and not one of the men or women going inside to arrest people. He could only imagine how rough it would be on his mind to have to participate in the raid in that capacity.
At Art’s words, Cas glanced over at her, feeling his expression relax and a chuckle escape his lips. Gratitude, because she was a nice distraction from his thoughts. ”I don’t know, partner. I think we might be seeing a lot of sexy animal costumes. Cats, bunnies….the works.” He responded, shrugging his shoulders. ”Loser buys dinner and the drinks.” Cas tacked on, knowing he’d want a beer or two - or three - after this.
As she asked what his last costume was, he couldn’t even recall. Cas’ gaze moved back to the windshield, peering out of it. ”I haven’t dressed up for Halloween since I was a kid. I think I was the blue Power Ranger.” Glancing over at her, he felt a lopsided smile forming on his face. ”What were you?”
