OUTBREAK: ZERO is a semi post-apocalyptic pandemic roleplay set in the fictional city of Lethford, USA. Current season: Winter, 20/21.
March 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousands, and the death toll is at an estimated 250,000, with about seventy percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.
The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.
In an attempt to provide a semblance of safety and control, military personnel patrol the streets, even here in Lethford City, and the police force is trying to keep up with the rising street violence, assault, and theft.
Welcome to OUTBREAK: zero. Will you survive?

/ˈaʊtbreɪk/ zero /ˈzɪərəʊ/
a sudden occurrence of something unwelcome, such as war or disease. number, no quantity or number; nought; the figure 0.
Both children started to jump up and down as Brynlee entered, both scrambling towards her wrap her up in an excited hug. "Aunt Brynlee! Aunt Brynlee! You're HERE!!!" The both started to try and talk over each other in order to be heard by their favorite aunt. "I lost a tooth yesterday!" Olivia tried to hold her attention. "I got 100% on my spelling test!" Milo said, talking over her and putting his arm in front of his sister's face to push her out of the way. "Milo! STOP!" Olivia shouted before biting down on the offending arm. Milo screamed and the two started wrestling.
Dean hurried into the room and pried the two apart. "They are exactly that, monsters," he said to his sister over the sound of yelling.
"DAD! Olivia bit me!" Milo tattled. "Olivia, we talked about this. We don't bite," Dean told his daughter while the two continued to struggle in his arms, trying to get at each other. "But he was pushing me while I was talking to Auntie!" Olivia retorted. "I understand you were frustrated but biting is never okay. And Milo, you should be more nice to your sister." Dean tossed Brynlee a pleading 'help me' look.
Dean managed to push himself up and away from the other man without too much trouble and he was just glad that he didn't berated for the accident. He was definitely regretting his decision to take the bus in the first time and imagined he wouldn't do so again for a good, long while.
Dean took a look around and started to help a few people who had fallen down back to their feet. He didn't immediately imagine the bus exploding but the imagery of it was enough to start to gently encourage people to start moving to exit the vehicle. When the man he had been sitting across from him spoke about not wanting to wait here to die there was clear fear in the eyes of those around him.
"Come on, man, have a little bit of grace here. You're gonna cause a panic." He took a quick look at his phone only to also realize there was no signal here. He was torn between wanting to help those who might be injured and wanting to join the stranger out in the snow. A quick assessment of the situation gave him the information he needed. No one was injured with more than a few scrapes and bruises and it was more important to get these people a chance to get out of the cold before they froze.
"I'll come," he said to the other man while he assured other passengers they would be back soon with help as he told them to keep warm by any means necessary.
It had been a long day and Dean had been out of the city to do some work for a small clinic out of town. His parents were watching the kids and he was eager to get home and see them, after a shower of course. It was always the very first thing he did when he got home as he didn't want to risk his kids getting the virus after he had been around patients all day who may or not have been exposed to it.
He wore a white N95 mask over his mouth and nose as he sat on the bus, having acknowledged the man across from him with a friendly but silent nod.
His heart dropped into his stomach as the bus started to spin out on the ice, the snow falling heavily outside, and he gripped the back of his seat to keep from falling out. As the bus crashed into a tree he was lurched forward towards the man across from him and scrambled up as quickly as he could, muttering apologies.
Dean was expected his little sister to show up at any moment. He had invited her over for dinner. It had been almost two weeks since he'd seen her and he felt bad that it had been so long. He, of course, had been busy with work, like always. He had meant to actually make dinner but was running late and had ended up just grabbing some takeout on the way home. He laid everything out on the table. Fried Rice, Lo Mein, dumplings, and several rolls of sushi.
The kids, Milo and Olivia, were currently chasing each other around the house with toy lightsabers that were far to loud of Dean's preference as they made electronic sounds each time they connected, perfectly matching the proper sound of the blade from the movies. Milo was acting the part of Luke Skywalker with his green blade while Olivia was Darth Vader with a red one. "Luke! I AM your father," she said in her little six year old voice, complete with the wheezing breath of the Sith Lord. "Noooooo!!!" Milo replied, falling to his knees is faux despair.
