OUTBREAK: ZERO is a semi post-apocalyptic pandemic roleplay set in the fictional city of Lethford, USA. Current season: Winter, 20/21.
March 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousands, and the death toll is at an estimated 250,000, with about seventy percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.
The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.
In an attempt to provide a semblance of safety and control, military personnel patrol the streets, even here in Lethford City, and the police force is trying to keep up with the rising street violence, assault, and theft.
Welcome to OUTBREAK: zero. Will you survive?

outbreak
/ˈaʊtbreɪk/ zero /ˈzɪərəʊ/
a sudden occurrence of something unwelcome, such as war or disease. number, no quantity or number; nought; the figure 0.
It was quite ironic to Yana, after years of being told to ‘go outside more, you have no life’, it was now considered good for the world if you stayed inside, and you would be applauded to do so. In fact, some zones were quarantined by the actual military for you to stay away from them, and you would face some serious consequences if you didn’t. Despite all of this, and the fact that she absolutely loved staying in, she was going against all her good judgments, the things the news and laws had been telling her, and her nature, by going outside, specifically, close by to a military base.
But she couldn’t help it. In her years of staying inside, she’d always been playing military simulators, she’d always had a small fascination for the weapons and the guns, and this virus thing might be her only chance to see things like that up close.
And so she ducked under the tape and went past the fences, entering the zone. Her eyes stayed on the lookout for the military guards, though she wasn’t sure if she was excited to see them or if that would be a disaster. She stayed close to walls and shadows, since it was late at night (no way she would do this in broad daylight), and she had snuck out of her home without her parents knowing. Her heartbeat was racing but the adrenaline put a smile on her face, up until a guard turned the corner. She got a glimpse of the big gun he was carrying, but she was too panicked to have a good look at it, as she ducked away to hide behind another wall.
But there she was met with the eyes of another man staring at her; this time, one that seemed a lot less intimidating than the ones in military gear. She was screwed and she knew it, and then the military guard came around the corner again to see her as well.
”I’m with him!” she blurted out in a wild panic, her Russian accent coming through strong, and quickly went to stand next to the civilian-looking stranger. If everything by some miracle went according to plan, he would play along.
The first time you meet her, Yana will come off as shy at first. She’s your classic introvert, often sitting quietly in the background in an oversized hoodie, doing her own thing and not contributing much to conversations, especially not if the room is already crowded in itself. But don’t let that mislead you, once you get to know her Yana is the most curious, loud, funny, excitable, hyperactive troublemaker you’ve ever met. She has about no attention span for anything except video games, which is her main hobby. Many people look down on her for not having any ‘real world’ goals other than perhaps becoming a famous streamer, often calling her lazy for barely having any other hobbies, or the fact that she’s a very messy person, too. While she’ll act like she doesn’t care about anyone or anything, deep down she’s very hurt by everything that happens around her, maybe even more than most people. She’s young and wants to live to have fun rather than worry about fitting in with society too much.
[attr="class","ozapptitle"]BIOGRAPHY
Yana was born in Chernogolovka, Russia. Her left-leaning family had been planning to escape Russia for a few years after her birth, and so when she turned thirteen they finally found a place in Lethford. She already spoke the English language better than any of her family, through all of her online gaming, but picking up languages also seemed to be one of her talents. She’s had a fairly normal childhood, living with her older sister of sixteen, her dad and her mother.
[attr="class","ozapptitle"]EXTRAS
She loves animals a lot too, and she values all her friends above anything, and plays nearly every game genre there is known to man, though she has a special place in her heart for the ones that are action filled and fast-paced. Though her parents had threatened to divorce a couple of times, she isn’t actually worried that it’ll happen. She still visits her grandparents and other family in Russia once a year, and mostly misses her cousins, visiting them whenever they can, although now they can’t because of the virus. From a young age, she was diagnosed with ADHD.
