OUTBREAK: ZERO is a semi post-apocalyptic pandemic roleplay set in the fictional city of Lethford, USA. Current season: Winter, 20/21.
March 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousands, and the death toll is at an estimated 250,000, with about seventy percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.
The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.
In an attempt to provide a semblance of safety and control, military personnel patrol the streets, even here in Lethford City, and the police force is trying to keep up with the rising street violence, assault, and theft.
Welcome to OUTBREAK: zero. Will you survive?

a sudden occurrence of something unwelcome, such as war or disease. number, no quantity or number; nought; the figure 0.
[attr="class","CONTENT"] Quinn looked around the store. It didn’t look too bad. A couple of items were knocked off the shelves. Some broke, resulting in their contents being scattered around the floor. But almost everything was hidden by the darkness. Taking out her phone she turned on the flashlight feature, moving her arm around to take a better look around.
The brunette bent down to pick up a slightly dented can of soup, placing it back on the shelf where it came from. Letting out a huff she blew a strand of hair out of her face, one hand resting on her hip as she glanced over her shoulder back at the broken window.
Her lips parted to let out one more hello but before the word could leave her lips a figure appeared in front of her. She held up her phone but the face was mostly covered by the gas mask they were wearing. Dark eyes narrowed at the person before her gaze shifted towards the baseball bat he was holding, flashlight pointed at it. "What?" she let out, confused by his assumption she belonged to the group of thugs who broke into the store.
"Excuse me?" Quinn added, a soft scoff following shortly after. Was he accusing her of being a criminal? Was he threatening her to make use of the weapon he was holding? Keeping one hand on her hip she looked at him, the hand holding her phone pointing out of the window behind her.
"They fled the scene a couple of minutes ago. You might want to reach out to the police to report this." She mustered him as much as the face coverings and dim-lit room let her. Taking a slow step back, she kept her attention on him, glass grinding underneath her boots as she moved.
[attr="class","CONTENT"] Quinn was looking down at her boots as she walked down the sidewalk on her way home. Her eyes caught the sight of several masks thrown away, littering the ground in addition to all the other trash. One would think the city would become cleaner if no one was around to toss away their empty bottles, cans, food packaging, and whatnot but it looked like it was the opposite. At least the summer heat wasn’t a thing anymore to make it smell even worse.
Having her phone clutched in one hand she looked at the screen, pressing her thumb on the bottom of it to unlock it. No signal. A sigh left her lips. What used to be normal, like having internet, a phone signal, lights, was slowly but steadily taken from most people. There wasn’t even one bar showing up. She couldn’t even read the latest news.
The sudden noise of someone screaming made her look up from the screen, eyes fixed forward. She whipped her head around as she tried to find the source of the scream when the window of a store shattered into pieces just a couple of steps ahead of her.
She watched as a group of masked people jumped out of the window, spilling even more glass shards on the ground around the storefront. "Hey!" she called out to them but was ignored as they took off. Following the breaking of the window, it would be standard procedure for an alarm to follow ringing but there was nothing but silence. There was no electricity to keep it running. Poor store owners were left with no security these days and this scene that unfolded right in front of her eyes just seemed to be something happening more often now. Who would stop them if the police were busy dealing with other things like those stupid home raids.
Quinn looked around, running her hand through her ponytail, searching for a patrol unit. The streets were as empty as usually at this time of the day. Marching forward the brunette was thinking of going after them but they already disappeared into the dark. Murmuring something under her breath she walked over to the broken window, glass shards crunching under her boots as she stepped on them.
What a mess. Brown eyes glanced down at the bottom part of the window before heaving over one leg after another, stepping inside the store. Just checking if anyone was inside and perhaps needed help. There were pieces of glass inside the store as well, shelves were thrown over as if they had to leave in a hurry for whatever reason. She wondered how they got inside in the first place if they decided to jump through a perfectly fine window to escape.
[attr="class","CONTENT"] Finally. It took long enough to settle in the city and find an apartment of her own, moving out of the base. Quinn was glad it wasn’t mandatory for officers to stay on base and while she didn’t mind the uncomfortable bunk in her quarters, the kitten she had yet to give a more creative name than cat, had to have a better home than the base. She still wasn’t sure how the heck she got away with it but here she was - still a member of the military.
Quinn pulled up to the building. It was on the other side of the city, far away from her parents. She didn’t tell them about moving back. For now, she refused to do it. There would be a better time to do so. Maybe. Her car was loaded with moving boxes and the carriage with cat inside. It was later than she expected to move in but work duties were holding her hostage for longer than she liked it.
Slipping out of the car she grabbed the cat carriage first, moving it up to the apartment door first before doing anything else. She couldn’t leave him in the car by itself even if it wouldn’t take her long to move her things out. The second trip consisted of a pile of boxes, all gathered in her arms. They weren’t necessarily heavy but made it slightly difficult to see anything in front of her.
Juggling the boxes in front of her she slowly made her way inside the building, inside the elevator, and up to her floor. She didn’t realize how fast the time had passed when suddenly the lights started flickering and eventually turned off. "Great." she huffed, blowing away a strand of hair out of her face. Even more slowly and carefully she stepped further into the hallway. She couldn’t see anything because of the boxes and the darkness wasn’t helping either. At least she was out of the elevator before it lost power with her inside of it.
Nor did she realize the other person in front of her until it was too late and she bumped into them, boxes tumbling down and their contents spilling out. "Gosh! Sorry. I didn’t see you- or anything really." she said before taking out her phone - now that her hands were involuntarily freed of stuff - and turning on the flashlight. "Are you okay?"

[attr="class","dibody3"] Sitting in the car with the cat she looked out of the window until he walked back to the car as well. Quinn tried to focus on the kitten in her lap, petting him and booping him on the nose every now and then. She was used to so much excitement in a day, be it positive or negative. Feeling a bit guilty and bad about dragging him into this mess she pursed her lips, perhaps trying to avoid looking at him for the rest of their ride.
Looking around her in the car she spotted a pen and an old receipt on the side of the passenger door. Quinn took both, balancing the cat on her lap, and placed the paper against the dashboard. Clicking the pen open she wrote down her number and her name just in case. "Here. You can call me whenever I should pick him up and whenever you have time for dinner." she told Pierce, holding out the piece of paper out to him.
"Ah. Takeout only." she added, one side of her lips arching up slightly into a smirk. "I can’t cook. I think. It’s better for you not to try it. You might end up dying because of food poisoning." She looked up at him, the smirk evolving into an innocent smile before she gestured towards the street and for him to start driving.
It didn’t take much longer for them to reach her car. She told him to stop there. Quinn felt a little sad about having to part ways with the kitten even though she would see him again soon to take him home… or to the base… whatever it was. That was a problem she would think about later after eating something and taking a hot shower to wash the day off.
She scratched the cat behind its ears one last time before lifting him and gently placing him on Pierce’s lap. "See you soon." she said to the cat and unbuckled her seatbelt, getting out of the car. Before she closed the door she looked at Pierce once again. "You too." she said, offering him one last apologetic smile and then shut the door, making her way to her own car.

[attr="class","dibody3"] Quinn bit her lower lip at Rhiannon’s proposal of taking the blame. She wasn’t sure if she liked it… not really. She hated the idea of letting someone else be punished for something she did. But that was an issue they could still care about if it ever arose. Hopefully, it wouldn’t happen and they would just find the kitten in time before anyone else could. The brunette grimaced as if in pain at the memories of that night and how she received the cat, however, she nodded in agreement to tell her more about it. "I’ll let you know about its backstory once we find it. If… we do."
A small gasp escaped her lips at the other arm wrapped itself around her elbow. She was about to say something else but ended up just nodding along at the fake excuse to get out of the situation. "Yes. Indeed. The gym. We need to head that way." she added quickly before being dragged out by Rhi. Once free again both hands moved up to her chest, releasing a heavy sigh of relief. "Oh my god that was way too close." she breathed, once again nodding at the other woman’s suggestion. At this point, her neck might start hurting from the amount of nodding Quinn did. "Sounds like a plan." Quinn replied, turning around only to come face to face with another soldier.
First Quinn almost squealed at the sight of her kitten but… someone else was carrying it. Quinn’s eyes widened in visible shock when she looked up from the animal to the face of the man holding it. Crap. Someone had found it before the two of them were able to. She already saw her career being over, laying down her uniform and being dishonorably discharged because of sneaking in a pet inside the military base.
Her hand went up to cover her mouth, eyes flickering between the kitten and the soldier. She didn’t know what to say or how to explain this situation. Maybe they should lie? Tell him it’s definitely not her cat. Just a random stray that snuck in. No… she had to take responsibility for this mess. "I- uh… I can explain." she let out slowly, opening her hand holding the treats and accidentally dropping them.

[attr="class","dibody3"] Once she returned his ID her hands moved back to the rifle slung across her chest where they rested comfortably on top of the cold weapon. A habit she had picked up working with one just like police officers tended to grab the top of their vests as a habit. Quinn raised one dark eyebrow at his confirmation that he indeed used to live in the East District. She tilted her head slightly to the side as he seemed to be studying her face, a part of her automatically wondering if there was anything stuck on it or if her make up was smudged.
‘Did you live next door to a beige house?’
Quinn slowly nodded at his question, hesitating ever so slightly, always being careful and suspicious of people - especially these days. "I did." she added to affirm, narrowing her eyes at the man in front of her once again. "Are you by any chance Mrs. Lee’s son?" she asked, perhaps a little baffled, because the man in front of her didn’t carry any resemblance to the boy she used to know and hang out with when she was younger. She remembered hanging out at her neighbor's house after bugging them a lot. Quinn definitely wasn't a quiet kid when she was younger... she still wasn't anywhere near quiet as of today.

[attr="class","dibody3"] Ha. The usual excuse of ‘don’t I know you’ to avoid penalties or fees. It wasn’t the first time this happened to Quinn while on patrol and it probably wouldn’t be the last time. People nowadays came up with all sorts of excuses to get away with a simple warning. A lot of citizens of Lethford thought the military didn’t hold as much authority as the police department did but oh boy, were they wrong. Lucky for him he encountered Quinn and her team and not someone else.
She hadn’t been in the city for such a long time, only to visit her parents for a weekend or two if she happened to have time. He certainly didn’t appear to be part of the military so she could scratch that off of her list of possibilities. His name rang a bell and it sounded highly familiar. “If we do then it must have been years ago.” she said, offering him the faintest hint of a polite smile. Her eyes rested on his bag of groceries for a moment, then glanced down at the remainder of egg yolk stuck to the ground. “I suggest getting your groceries earlier next time.”
Quinn tilted her head softly to the side as she looked at him more closely, narrowing her eyes at his face. “I’m not sure.” she responded to his question before taking the ID card from him. She held it up, checking the picture on it to see if it matched his and then proceeded to read the name. Junseo Kim. Biting her lower lip as she handed him back his ID Quinn tried to sort the face in her mind. “Did you live near the movie theater in the East District?”
[attr="class","ditags3"]@junseo - totally made the last bit up. I realized the age gap between them so I needed to rule out school lmao

[attr="class","dibody3"] It had been a while since the last time Quinn was actually doing patrol duty. As a first lieutenant, she had a fair share of soldiers under her command but since being stationed in Lethford she was stuck with administrative duties most of the time. A recent encounter reminded her how much out of shape she was and she had started to pick up a more regular training schedule since then. Being stuck to a desk took its toll. Unfortunately, the virus claimed lots of poor souls - including soldiers. They weren’t spared, despite thousands of testings, sanitizing, and overall health care. Even the strongest weren’t able to survive an unknown illness.
There was a lot of hate against the military the moment they rolled into the city. Citizens were calling them unnecessary, waste of money and resources, not any better than the police. The police they had to work together with wasn’t pleased either. The number of times soldiers got into a fight with a cop these days was countless. It seemed as if everyone was fighting each other despite a much greater threat taking over the whole city, state, country - the world. Fortunately, Quinn’s platoon wasn’t that wild or stupid, whatever one would like to call these reckless decisions. Instead, she would find herself picking fights.
Before going out she divided her platoon into several teams, assigning herself to a random one. Each of the teams was given a certain area to patrol and she made clear to them that they weren’t supposed to venture out of these assigned zones. Hopefully, they would listen… and hopefully, she would listen to herself and take her own advice.
Curfew had just started and there was only another hour left until the power outages would hit the city, taking away most street lights. Booted feet wandered through the streets, rifles slung across their chests. Chances of having to use them were low but it was more of a way to intimidate civilians anyway. It felt heavier than she remembered and Quinn pretty much preferred her Glock which was safely sitting in its holster at her hip.
She led the way, followed by 5 soldiers when her dark brown eyes spotted a figure ahead. Quinn let out a sigh and gestured her troop to follow as she started making her way towards the person. “Good evening sir. I’ll need to see your ID and papers. It’s already past curfew, you are aware of that right?”

[attr="class","dibody3"]
“Nice to meet you too. I’m Quinn.” she responded with a friendly smile, letting out a chuckle at the not shaking hands part. “Yeah, no, sure. That’s totally okay considering we’re living in a pandemic.” Quinn said casually as if it was the most normal thing in the world - it kind of was… at the moment at least. „I hope she didn‘t dart into a sergeants office. My rank can only protect me so far.“
Quinn raised an eyebrow at her question about the cat‘s appearance, tilting her head ever so slightly in light confusion. „I don‘t think there are more cats running around the premise.“ she replied, biting her lower lip before glancing around the room for one last time. She didn‘t mean to sound rude or make any snarky remarks to the person willing to help her, but sometimes her mouth acted quicker than her brain. „But she‘s grey… mostly. Some dark spots here and there. Pretty small. I think I was told she‘s about 4 months old?“
Letting out a shaky, slightly agitated laugh, she shook her head. “I wouldn‘t think about sneaking anything in here if I wasn‘t forced too.” she said through gritted teeth, a sigh following shortly afterward. She planted a hand on her face, rubbing the bridge of her nose. “I guess sometimes I‘m just too nice of a person to say no.” she added, her fingers moving from the bridge of her nose to the left temple. She could feel a light headache forming, mostly out of frustrating and perhaps a little stress.
‚Also, you should really just avoid talking to anyone if they see you shaking those treats. You’re not too great at lying.‘
“You’re right.” she said, opening the bag of treats and pouring out a couple into the palm of her hand. She closed the zip of the bag of treats and stuffed them between the back of her pants, covering it with her shirt. She closed the hand with the treats and shook them slightly, listening to the small noise they made as they tumbled against each other. A cat should be able to hear that right? “You seem like a pro at this kind of… situation. Sounds like you’re used to causing trouble.” she mentioned, tugging her dark olive colored tee just a little more neatly into her pants and adjusting her belt to make sure the treats won’t fall out. “I hope so. I hope we find it before someone else does.” Quinn replied, shuddering physically and mentally at the thought of a sergeant finding the cat. Dishonorable discharge here we come.
The brunette walked over to the door and opened it while looking over her shoulder at the new acquaintance and kitten rescue partner she had made. She was about to say something when two figures appeared in front of the open door, staring down at her in light confusion - probably wondering why two women were roaming around in the men barracks. In this moment Quinn was relieved Rhiannon advised her to be careful about the treats and that she had decided to hide them in her pants. She quickly swapped the treats in her hands to the other hand to raise her right one for a brief salute.

[attr="class","dibody3"] “You wanted me to stay in the car, so what? I could call 911 and watch them jump you? Yeah, no thanks. I don’t need that kind of bad publicity or even bad taste for myself weighing on me. And a plan B? You can’t have a plan B and not make the other party aware of it.”
Quinn slowly blinked at him as if she didn’t understand what exactly he was trying to tell her. Sometimes she forgot how civilians were different from her fellow soldiers she spent most of the time with, administrative work or not. “Why? Why would you need to feel bad about it if it was my idea and my decision? It’s not like you could have stopped me.” she argued, trying to justify herself. It wasn’t like she expected him to do anything. She didn’t need to. All she wanted was for him to stay in the car.
“I made you aware of it. I told you to stay in the car!” she fired back, raising her voice just slightly. Running a hand through her hair and ruffling it out of frustration Quinn sighed, fanning some more air to her face to cool down both physically and mentally. Glancing back at his car she threw her hands in the air dismissively, tired from arguing about something that didn't matter anymore. “Let’s just… drop me off at my car. It shouldn’t be that far away anymore. I’ll just grab my phone and take a cab.”
“Are you okay?”
The brunette squinted at him as she gave him a quick once over before looking at herself. She couldn’t remember taking a punch so that was good. She rubbed her arm, checking the other and looking down at herself before moving on to her face. “Yeah, sure. I’m alright. Been through worse. This is nothing.” she shrugged, her hand brushing past her cheek where she felt just a little burning sensation because of the small cut which was fixed with a bandaid slapped on top of it later.
“I’m sorry. I hope this doesn’t cause any trouble with your work.” she said as she looked at his hands. “I can already feel all the grudges held against me for you not being able to properly help all the animals.” she added, letting out a soft laugh. And as if on cue a ball of fur curled around her legs, her eyes glancing at the open car door. Without hesitation she picked up the cat, scratching its head. “I guess… I will have to take her with me to make up for this? And probably buy you dinner sometime.” she offered, holding the kitten tight to her chest.
She then turned away from him, starting to walk back to the car. Opening the passenger door one-handedly she dropped the cat back inside. Quinn was about to get inside herself when she clapped her hands, remembering something. Leaving the door open she jogged back to the other car, eyes searching the ground. It took a moment for her to find it but once she did she bent down, a hand moving under the car and reappearing with the can of dog food. She blew on it, rubbing a little bit of dirt off of it. It was dented but still closed and perfectly usable. “Look, you can still use it.” she said, showing Pierce the can before throwing it over for him to catch.
Tucking her hands inside her jacket she walked back to the car, finally taking a seat again. Dark eyes looking at him expectantly through the windshield. Dark eyes looking at him expectantly through the windshield. The kitten quickly returned to its initial spot on her lap and she picked it up once again, holding him up to face Pierce and lifting its paw to make it wave at him. “She’s waiting too.” she silently mouthed at him.

[attr="class","dibody3"] Quinn took a deep breath, shaking the bag of treats more aggressive with each passing minute. Her lips were pressed together as she tiptoed around the things lying on the floor. She bent down to check the spaces beneath the beds, moved aside cabinets and making sure to put them back where they were - to the exact position. Unfortunately, there was no sign of a cat. Quinn felt like ripping her hair out if her supervisor wouldn’t do it later anyway. She might lose her head over this which wouldn’t be as bad as losing her job. She could already see the headlines. Soldier dishonorably discharged because of smuggling in a pet into the base.
Her heart stopped for a moment as she heard the door being pushed open, hiding the bag of treats behind her back immediately and stranding straight. A small wave of relief washed over her when she looked at the unfamiliar face who didn’t look like a big threat - maybe a small threat.
“Oh, no, I’m looking for-” she thought hard, trying to come up with any kind of excuse. Biting her lower lip and wrapping her slender fingers around the bag of cat treats Quinn’s eyes darted back and forth, making it quite obvious she was about to lie. Unable to think of a way out she let out a sigh and held out the cat treats. “Yeah… I’m trying to find a kitten.” she admitted. She was slightly relieved the woman offered to help her instead of calling her out, but she had to make sure either way. Lifting a finger and pointing it at the brunette she narrowed her eyebrows at her. “Don’t tell anyone.” she said, looking her up and down, trying to figure out if she had seen her before. Maybe.
“Please, you can hold it for eternity if you want to.” she began, replying to her demand. One hand moved to her forehead, rubbing it to ease her nerves. What a great day. “I have no clue where it could be though. Last time I saw it it was curled up underneath my bunk and then it just darted out I suppose.” Quinn explained as she rummaged inside her pants pockets, fishing out a small ball. She shook it in front of the other woman to demonstrate the sound it made with a bell inside. “Here, take this. Maybe it’ll help. It’s her favorite toy.” She offered her the ball, holding it out while looking around the room to check if it might be in there. "Its name is... Cat."

[attr="class","dibody3"] "Here, kitty kitty." the brunette whispered, dark eyes desperately searching for the little furball. She hasn't had the chance to name it yet. So far the top contestants were cat and chairman meow - Quinn wasn't the most creative person to begin with. But she quite liked cat... it was an easy name. Easy to say, easy to remember, easy to call. And who else would name their feline cat?
So many regrets. Quinn wondered why she had given in and accepted taking the stray kitten home... or what she could call home. The military base definitely wasn't a good home for an animal. She somehow managed to sneak it in and keep it hidden so far but of course, she couldn't prevent the worst-case scenario from happening - it escaped. It managed to run out of the room the second Quinn left the door unattended and now it was roaming around the barracks.
Quinn let out a frustrated sigh, stemming her hands on her hips, blowing a strand of loose hair out of her face. That's exactly why she wanted to wait until she could get an apartment of her own to get a pet. Perhaps if she had better control of her temper and sense of justice this wouldn't be an issue now. Maybe if she hadn't decided to jump out of the car and have a go at the group of men to stop them from stealing and damaging another vehicle this wouldn't have happened. Maybe Pierce wouldn't have had a reason to persuade her into taking the kitten in despite her explanations that it won't end well.
Here she was, hunting down a kitten in the middle of the military base. Even her rank couldn't protect her if words got out about it. If any of her superiors would find out about this... she'd be dead meat. Quinn made her way through the rooms, making sure beforehand that the occupants were out training and to not leave any evidence of her intruding. She shook a small bag with treats she was given with a couple of other things she barely managed to get through security. Ever tried to explain why you needed cat litter at the base? Hopefully, you won't have to.
"Pleaseee." she muttered, almost begging the kitten to appear in front of her, another attempt at shaking the treats to get its attention from wherever it was. "Where are you hiding?"
[attr="class","dilyrics3"]Your lips feel warm to the touch You can bring me back to life On the outside you're ablaze and alive But
[attr="class","dilyric3"]you're dead inside
[attr="class","dibody3"] Letting out a hiss at the guy near her the two of them were just about to get into another round of fighting when Pierce unexpectedly punched his opponent right back in the face. Quinn’s eyes widened, because she did not expect this response at all. She wasn’t even sure he would do anything at all and she wouldn’t have minded. She dragged him into this mess after all. And if it ended well for both she would owe him. Perhaps by taking the cat anyway, although she really didn’t know how to sneak it inside the military base without raising suspicion. Maybe the sneaking it past security wasn’t the difficult task. Knowing cats are independant and curious having it sneak out onto the base without her knowing and causing trouble was the bigger issue.
Her head bopped in agreement when Pierce suggested them to make a run for it once the lights appeared nearby. “I’ll get you all arrested if I see you around again.” she yelled after them, raising her arm, one hand balled into a fist as she punched the air after them. There was a sigh of relief after watching them disappear into the dark. Quinn leaned slightly forward, bending her upper body and resting her hands on her knees. Her long hair fell forward, covering her face. Taking a deep breath she whipped up her head and stood up straight as Pierce’s voice cut through the short moment of silence.
“Are you out of your goddamn mind?”
Quinn’s face contorted into an apologetic grimace. “Sorry.” she muttered, running a hand through her hair. “Look, I just really can’t stand people committing crimes. If that was your car you would have been thankful if someone had done something to prevent it from getting stolen or damaged.” she said, biting her lower lips as she looked at him and pointing to the car they just saved.
Her apologetic look soon turned into a look of light annoyance. “By the way… ‘get your ass back in the car, Quinn’? I will remember this.” she repeated the words he said to her earlier, letting out a huff, blowing up a strand of hair which fell on her face. She mimicked him by stemming her hands on her hip as well, moving aside her jacket and exposing the gun secured on her side. Quinn was known to be quite… spiteful. If there was something bothering her she wouldn’t be able to let go of it and take it to her grave. If there was a chance for revenge, even the smallest, she would take it. And poor Pierce might have just become her victim for revenge.
“I admit… the situation might have been a little out of control.” she said, “and I might be a little out of shape.” Quinn continued, “But if you had stayed in your car like I told you to, you wouldn’t have needed to get involved.” The brunette let out another huff, brushing her hair behind both ears, fanning her face as her head started flushing. Her cheeks glowed a soft shade of red out of annoyance and a tiny amount of anger. She whipped her around around to look back at him. “You know I had a plan B. It was jumping back into your car and having you run them over, but whatever.” she explained, waving a hand to dismiss.
She took a deep breath, hands placed on her cheeks sucking in the heat. Her eyes paused on his hands and she remembered the punches he threw at one of the guys. “Are you okay though? You hit him quite hard earlier.” she asked, drawing her eyebrows together and scrunching her nose. A delicate mask of concern and worry forming on her face. Quinn couldn’t help herself and mumble another apology.

[attr="class","dibody3"] “Quinn, get your ass back in the car.”
Quinn raised her eyebrows in response, but kept her eyes fixed on the bunch of thugs in front of her. Letting out a small sigh because she clearly told him to stay in the car. It was one thing doing this alone and her plan of jumping back into the car in case of emergency was now shattered. Pursing her lips she took in the surrounding. There was the car, some trash cans,
Her gaze flickered between the two standing on the right and the two next to the car. Calculating her chances of dealing with them. She could take on two… perhaps three with a little luck, but she hadn’t dealt with real combat situations in a while. Ever since moving to Lethford City it was more paperwork than anything. She was - so to say - a little rusty with her skills. She raised her arm and pointed at them. “Like he said… if you don’t want to get arrested for being out past curfew you better get going and leave the car alone.”
As she watched one of them move forward in her direction she offered him a soft smirk, mouthing the words try me as he crept closer and closer. One she could take. It would be fine - hopefully. Quinn cracked the knuckles of her hands, balling them into fists as she held them in front of her face. When he charged, she ducked, spun around and kicked him in the back to send him tumbling to the ground. She turned back, only to see two more sprinting at her - oops. Her eyes caught sight of a shiny piece of metal in one of their hands and her hands immediately stretched out to grab his wrists, twisting them in the process. It took a moment as she struggled with him, the blade managing to graze her cheek slightly.
Trying to get a stronger hold of his arm she pulled at it, pulling him towards her before kicking him in the chest, glowing eyes watching him fall back into the others. Already out of breath she backed up a little, taking two steps towards the car behind her. “He’s with the military. You don’t want to mess with him!” she said out loud, nodding her head towards Pierce and blowing a strand of dark hair out of her face. He wasn’t. But he looked the part. He could easily be mistaken for a soldier - at least look wise. She wasn’t too sure about it personality-wise, because listening to orders apparently wasn’t his thing. One hand propped on her hip, semi-hovering over the gun tightly secured to her waist. “He’s a beast. If you want to get out of this alive… run.”
Perhaps it wasn’t her best idea to get out of the car. She may or may not have calculated it wrong.

[attr="class","dibody3"] "I'm sure there are some good ones, but I've yet to find one."
Quinn huffed and let out a laugh at his comment. “Same.” she replied to having to find a proper soldier between all those beasts. She continued scratching the kitten sitting in her lap and smiled at it as it rubbed its little head at her jacket. They said a cat’s purr had a soothing and relaxing effect on humans and the more Quinn focused on it she could tell it was true. It was a nice change after all the stress and work that came with moving bases into the epicenter of a pandemic. She was pretty sure her parents would go crazy if they knew she was back in Lethford City.
Her eyes met the amber hues of the stray and for a moment - just a very, very brief moment - she was thinking about just keeping it, however, she knew it wasn’t possible as of now. She was older, sure, but she didn’t have an apartment or house of her own and was constantly moving places most of the time. Plus she would never be at home even if she had a home she could call her own. She sighed. “As much as I would like to keep it, I don’t think a cat would be much appreciated at the base. I can see the chaos unfolding inside the barracks if it escapes my room.” she said, her smile disappearing for a short moment as she thought about it. “I’m not sure if I get to move to an apartment in the city but if I do I will consider it.”
She was going to jokingly suggest he take care of the cat in the meantime, which probably wasn’t something he would be able to do as he had so many other animals to take care of. The ones at the clinic, the strays out in the streets and most likely pets of his own - but her attention shifted to a bunch of hooded people a little further down the street. Her brown eyes narrowed at them until she realized they were standing around a car - it wasn’t her car but it was someone’s car and Quinn has the tendency to have little regard keeping out of other people’s businesses. Especially when it involved petty crimes.
She watched them peeking through the windows, trying to open the door to the driver’s seat and kicking at it while one of them was trying his luck with the trunk. “Could you just stop for a moment?” she asked him but didn’t wait until the car came to a full stop. She unbuckled her seatbelt and and turned around to take a closer look at his backseat again. Spotting a can of dog food she twisted around in the seat and took it. “I’m gonna pay you back for this.” she said before hauling herself out of the car within moments.
Throwing the can up and catching it again she looked at Pierce through the open door. “I think it might be better if you stay inside. Take care of the cat.” she said, tucked the can under her armpit to take the cat and place it on top of his lap and then closed the door. “Oy!” she called over, licking her upper lid before they curled upward into a mischievous grin. It didn’t take long for her to have their attention and with one swift motion she hurled the can in their direction, sending it flying at one of their heads. “Don’t tell me the story of one of you losing their car keys.”
